Wellness for Law Forum returns in February

As part of our commitment to fostering a culture of wellbeing within the legal community, the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner (VLSB+C) joins the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) in supporting the upcoming Wellness for Law Forum on 15 and 16 February. Themed "Reflecting on the Past, Shaping the Future", the forum is hosted by Melbourne Law School and Monash University’s Faculty of Law.

This unique annual gathering brings together academics, lawyers and law students to share research and experiences related to mental health and wellness in legal education and practice. A variety of perspectives are included from across Australia and the world.

Returning in person for the first time since the pandemic, this year's forum encourages participants to reflect on the 15 years since the Brain & Mind Research Institute’s landmark report on attitudes towards depression in the legal profession and contemplate both the progress made and yet to be achieved in the lead up to 2030.

With keynote addresses from local and international experts such as Chief Justice Anne Ferguson (Supreme Court of Victoria), Professor Nathalie Cadieux (University of Sherbrooke), Professor Nick James (Bond University) and Dr Emma J. Jones (University of Sheffield),as well as our Board CEO and Commissioner Fiona McLeay, this is sure to be a stimulating event.
