Penalty

Guilty of one charge of professional misconduct within the meaning of section 297(1)(b) of the Uniform Law one charge of professional misconduct within the meaning of section 297(1) and two charges of unsatisfactory professional conduct within the meaning of section 296. Orders 1. Ms Burrows is reprimanded. 2. Ms Burrows Australian practising certificate is cancelled from 29 May 2024. 3. A practising certificate must not be granted to Ms Burrows before the end of 2 years from the date of cancellation. 4. Ms Burrows is to complete 2 continuing professional development (CPD) points in the field of ethics and professional responsibility and 1 CPD point in the field of substantive law in addition to any mandatory professional development requirements in the 12 months immediately preceding any application for a practising certificate following the 2 year period referred to above. 5. Ms Burrows must pay the Commissioners costs of this proceeding fixed in the sum of $20000.
