Family violence app wins inaugural Premier’s iAward
July 7, 2016
The Victorian Legal Services Board is pleased to congratulate the Domestic Violence Resource Centre (DVRC) on winning the inaugural Victorian Premier’s iAward for Innovation. The award was presented to the DVRC for their SmartSafe+ app at the Australian Information Industry Association Awards on 29 June.
DVRC developed SmartSafe+ as a free app to help women gather detailed evidence to obtain a protection order or prove a breach of an existing protection order. The Board’s 2013 Grants Program provided the initial $60,000 funding to help DVRC develop the app.
Premier Daniel Andrews called SmartSafe+ ‘a fantastic app helping to tackle family violence’ and predicted it would save lives.
